***************
BOY SCOUTS: During the past
year Scouts from Troop 18 participated in Camporees at the
Crater of Diamonds and Petit Jean State Parks , caught their limit
of rainbow trout
fishing
on the Little Missouri River, and spent the day canoeing on the
Caddo River.
In addition,
during weekly Troop meetings the Boy Scouts learned about their
ancestors, how to make plumbing repairs, and about coins of the past
century, while earning Merit Badges. Troop 18 prides itself in its
award-winning Dutch Oven cooking skills. The Scouts added several
new dishes to their menu this year.
Scouts from Troop
18 participated in two summer High Adventure trips this year. One
group spent a week sailing and Snorkeling in the Florida Keys, while
others backpacked in the Santa de Christo Mountains in northern New
Mexico.
As of September of
2009, 35 young men from Troop 18 have earned the rank of “Eagle
Scout.”
Troop 18 has
another exciting year planned for 2009 – 2010, culminating in
another High Adventure canoeing trip to Canada. If you'd like to
learn how to become involved, let me know.

Scoutmaster
